Marie Correnson pre and primary school is an institution that belongs to the Oblates of the Assumption in the province of East Africa. It is situated in Arusha region, Ngorongoro district and precisely in Loliondo ( Wasso) which is about 400 kms from Arusha City and about 8 kms from Ngorongoro Council. The school started in 2013 with only 20 students from the village around and was registered in 2015 with registered EM 16698. Initially the Oblates started the school to educate the children of wasso hospital staff and maassai people living around the hospital. The school aimed in developing the education level in Ngorongoro district which is mostly inhabited by Massai people. Currently the school has 398 students, 200 boys and 198 girls among them 142 are boarders and the enrollment is getting higher due to the school good performance. So far, the school has benefited from subsidies from the congregational subsidies and some donors to improve its facilities especially classrooms, dining hall and wash rooms. The tuition fee is fixed considering the reality of life in Loliondo but some parents, especially those from poor families, do not afford to pay the totality even though they wished their children to receive a quality education. The sustainable competitive advantage of Correnson pre and primary school is its improved academic performance. For the past few years, it has the experience and proven record of delivering high quality education, by well-qualified specialist teachers. The school offers extra-academic programs to empower students with various skills as cultural day to help them how to relate to people from different cultures and background. The Congregation of the Oblates of the Assumption was founded by the servant of God Father Emmanuel d'Alzon and Co-Foundress Mother Marie Correnson in 1865 in France with an ecumenical, charitable and missionary intentions. Their Charism is “THY KINGDOM COME”. They work to promote God’s Kingdom in themselves through prayer and community life; and they promote it around themselves through education, social and health care. Sisters work in education sectors as Lecturers on university level, teachers in secondary and primary schools and even kindergarten. In health sector they have doctors/nurses, counsellors and social workers working among the Maasai community caring for street children, marginalized women and orphans in various missions. They have other sisters in pastoral ministry such as youth ministry, catechists and sacristans. .
The Oblate sisters are Missionaries working in different countries in 4 continents: Africa, Latin America, Asia and Europe. The Congregation is divided into Provinces. The EAST AFRICA Province where the convent is based, comprises Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Kenya. The Oblates arrived in Tanzania in 1998 and are working in education, health care and pastoral ministry in 4 different dioceses: Arusha, Tabora, Mbulu and Singida. bsp;
